Please detail the concern to support@secondlife.com with the tag, [Linden Land], in the topic. Always include the exact location that needs to be investigated by including the region name and grid location. Issues that can be addressed like this would include; * Parcel settings, such as littered plots without auto return enabled or plots that should have scripts enabled, etc. * Parcel encroachment, when the offending item, usually trees and grasses, are owned by Governor Linden. * Land that is owned by Governor Linden that appears to have been abandoned by a resident. * Broken Linden content such as phantom roadway or malfunctioning trains, etc. Is this land abandoned and can it be auctioned? Land that is owned by a valid account is not abandoned even if it appears to be unused. If you are able to find the resident name in search, there is a good chance that the land is not abandoned. Please bear in mind that many residents have annual accounts and it may take many months for the account status to change even if they have chosen to leave or use another account. Land will not be reclaimed simply due to inactivity. If you find that the land owner no longer appears in search, there is a possibility that the land may indeed be abandoned. If the land is owned by Governor Linden, the odds are greater. Email support@secondlife.com and detail the location of the land including the region name and grid location, and detail the concern that prompted you to investigate the plots status. Can I buy this land? Generally speaking, land will need to be made available to all residents via an auction. We are not able to just sell land to the first person that asks about it. Exceptions can be made if the plot is relatively small and the requestor has a logical claim to it. For example, if a thin strip extends into an owned plot or a plot is completely surrounded. Email support@secondlife.com to make these inquiries. Land that is owned by Governor Linden and named, Protected Land, will not generally be sold to residents or terraformed. How do I address parcel encroachment? If you have an object on your land that belongs to someone else and you are unable to return via the land tools, please IM the owner of the object first and ask to have it removed. Give them some time to respond. You can also ask the owner of the neighboring land to remove the object or the group officers if it is group land. If all routes have been tried and still no resolution, then email support@secondlife.com and detail the exact location (region and grid numbers) and clearly describe the problem. Tips for emailing Support The easier you make it for us to understand your problem and respond, the more likely your support experience will go well. Here are some tips to bear in mind when contacting support. * Always include both your Second Life name and your real name on all emails that you send to us, even replies. * Always send the email from the same email account that you have registered against that second life account. For many issues we need to know that you are indeed the owner of the second life account – if you send from email accounts that we do not recognize then it can make things more difficult. * Please provide the full region name, with the correct spelling, and the coordinates to the plot or object that needs our attention. Both will be shown at the top, in the middle of your screen. * Good subject lines help a lot. Make the subject very clear, and indicate the type of query you have. 'Please Help!' is a lot less helpful than... '[Linden Land] Linden land at Ambleside 30,70 needs autoreturn enabled' is much better. * Send once rather than sending many emails to several addresses. If you get the support autoreply email then we have your email in the support queue and will respond. It will include the support ticket number, which you should keep safe. * If you are emailing concerning a previous support ticket, then including that ticket will help us tie the two together. If you really can't find it, then telling us when the previous email was sent can also help. This FAQ does not answer my question! How to Use the Edit Terrain Tool //如何使用地形编辑工具? To access the Edit Terrain tool, just click on your land and select Edit Terrain from the pie menu that appears. How do I Deed Land to a Group? Donate Tier to a GroupPremium Members have an amount of land allowance. The higher their monthly tier payment, the more land allowance they have, so the more land they can own. Although Groups can hold land themselves, they do not have any land tier of their own. For a Group to hold land therefore, its Members have to loan it some or all of their personal tier allowance. Both Members and Officers can give land tier allowance to the Group, but only Officers can buy and sell Group land. As an incentive for Residents to collaborate in Group projects, Groups get a 10% tier bonus, meaning that for every 10 meters of land allowance loaned to it, it can actually hold 11 meters. How to Donate Land to Tier
Checklist – What you need before you start Open your Groups window, either by pulling down the Edit menu and selecting the Groups... option, or right click on yourself and select Groups... from the pie menu that pops up. Left click on the group you want to donate to, and then click on the Info button. There are a number of tabs across the top. Select the Land tab. At the bottom of that window, you will see a field marked Your Contribution. Add the amount you wish to donate, and press the Set Contribution button. Donating tier to a group costs you 10% less than your contribution. So you can actually contribute 10% more than you have. Likewise, if you want to reduce your contribution to a group, follow the same process and put in a lower number. Keep in mind that if you take tier away from a group so that it doesn't have enough tier to support the land that the group already owns, the group will only have 7 days to replace that tier. So it is only polite to notify the group leader(s), if at all possible. Why Donate Tier?
Groups allow shared facilities and land management, and the use and enjoyment of land by group members who may not be premium account holders themselves. To provide additional incentive, tier donated to a group is deducted from the donator at a reduced rate (10% less). Example: Jitsurei Muromachi has a premium account and is on the lowest tier. She has 512m2 of tier, and owns no land presently. She would like to donate land to her friend's group Uma no chiiki, as they are planning on setting up a small, shared community. Jitsurei can donate 563m2, 10% more than she actually has. |

How does group-owned land work? Group-Owned Land Second Life groups can unify their projects and their vision through group-owned land. Group-owned land is held by the group, not by any one group member. In order for the group to own land, it must have land contributions, which are donations members make from their own personal land allocation. The group can own a total amount of land whose size in square meters equals 110% or less of the sum of all group contributions. IMPORTANT: Remember that even after your group has sold some or all of their land holdings, if your intention is to "tier down" and not be billed for it, you must remove land contributions to your groups.
To do this, go to Edit menu > Groups, and double-click a group to get info. Then, click the Land & L$ tab. "Your Contribution" needs to be set accordingly. It can be set to "0" if you want to contribute anything at all.  "Total Contribution" must be equal to or more than "Total Land In Use", or your group risks losing that land. (See How do I change or remove group land contributions? for more information on setting group contributions.) This can be confusing for many Second Life Residents, so here's an example: Example Adam, Bob, and Carol are all members of the "We Love Pretzels" group. They wish to purchase 4096 square meters to build their ultimate pretzel paradise, Pretzeltopia. Since no one person has enough land allocation to buy that much land without paying higher land-use fees (tier), the plan is to have the group own the land, with group land contributions from the group members. Adam Adam is a premium member. He doesn't own land, but as a premium member, he can own or contribute 512m2 without additional land-use fees. Adam's Current Tier: 0(+512) = 512 Adam's Land Owned: 0 Adam's Group Contribution: 0 Adam's Total Land Usage: 0 Adam's Remaining Allocation: 512 Total Contribution in Group: 0 He decides to donate his 512m2 allocation to the group. He doesn't own land, but his 512m2 is now tied up in the group. He can't buy any more land without going to the next land tier (and paying higher land-use fees.) Adam's Current Tier: 0(+512) = 512 Adam's Land Owned: 0 Adam's Group Contribution: 512 Adam's Total Land Usage: 512 Adam's Remaining Allocation: 0 Total Contribution in Group: 512
Bob
Bob is a Premium member, and owns 3584m2 of land already (which puts him in the 4096(+512) land tier). Bob's Current Tier: 4096(+512) = 4608 Bob's Land Owned: 3584 Bob's Group Contribution: 0 Bob's Total Land Usage: 3584 Bob's Remaining Allocation: 1024 Total Contribution in Group: 512 Since his maximum allocation is 4608m2, and he currently owns 3584m2, he has 1024m2 to spare. He contributes this 1024m2 to the group. Since his total usage is now 4608m2 he will be unable to buy any more land without moving up a land tier (and paying higher land-use fees). Bob's Current Tier: 4096(+512) = 4608 Bob's Land Owned: 3584 Bob's Group Contribution: 1024 Bob's Total Land Usage: 4608 Bob's Remaining Allocation: 0 Total Contribution in Group: (512+1024)=1536
Carol
Carol is a Premium subscriber, but doesn't own land. However, she's willing to increase her tier to help the group meet its doughy desires. Carol's Current Tier: 0(+512) = 512 Carol's Land Owned: 0 Carol's Group Contribution: 0 Carol's Total Land Usage: 0 Carol's Remaining Allocation: 512 Total Contribution in Group: (512+1024)=1536 Doing a little kitchen math, Carol figures she needs to go to the 2048(+512) tier to support Pretzeltopia's planned land purchase. She confirms the tier change (to 2048), and contributes all her allocation to the group's land contributions. Carol's Current Tier: 2048(+512) = 2560 Carol's Land Owned: 0 Carol's Group Contribution: 2560 Carol's Total Land Usage: 2560 Carol's Remaining Allocation: 0 Total Contribution in Group: (512+1024+2560)=4096
The Group
The group now has 4096m2 of contributions from its members. Groups get a bonus allocation, equal to 10% of the total group contributions members give. As a result, the group can actually own 10% more than its individual members could. Total Contribution in Group: 4096m2 Total Amount Group Can Own: 4096m2*1.1 = 4505m2 All that remains is for one of the group officers to go to their future home, right-click the land, select About Land, and click on Buy For Group. (Buy For Group allows an officer to send the land directly to the group without owning it themselves. Use this when you've already made group contributions ahead of time, like we have.)
Additional Information on Group Land Allocation: If at any time a group owns more land than they have land contributions for, Linden Lab will contact the founder of the group and let them know they need to either contribute more land allocation or release land within 72 hours or risk losing some of their land. Notes: Group-owned land refers to the group for all aspects of ownership. Like Linden Dollars paid to a group, parcel directory fees are divided evenly among all group members. Object return tools consider the "owner" to be group-owned objects, "group" to be objects set to the group but owned by group members, and "other" to include all objects not owned or set to group (including objects owned by group members but not set to group). If group-owned land is sold, the L$ received is distributed evenly to all in the group (members and officers) the next day.
